Before You Go
​
Check your passport and make certain it has not expired. It is recommended that you have a
passport expiration date six months beyond the date of your scheduled return.
Consider the altitude. San Miguel de Allende is at 6200 ft. If you are prone to altitude sickness,
prepare ahead of time with lots of hydration and altitude medications if appropriate. Also,
remember that the sun will be more intense at this higher altitude.

How To Get There
​
Fly into Queretaro (QRO)
Querétaro is the closest airport to San Miguel. It is about a one-hour drive to San Miguel. It is an easy airport to navigate.Fly into Leon, Guanajato (BJX)
León (BJX) Airport is about 1 hour and 30 minutes from San Miguel de Allende. It is also an easy airport to navigate.Fly into Mexico City (MEX)
Mexico City International Airport (MEX) has flights to/from most international cities. You can get connecting flights from MEX to BJX or QRO. The drive to San
Miguel is approximately 3 hours.

Driving from the airport to San Miguel de Allende
Hiring a car (sedan, suburban, or van) or booking a shuttle for transportation from all of these airports is easy and the transportation recommended below is safe and reliable. Reserve your transportation ahead of time, either through your ‎hotel concierge or one of the private companies mentioned below. We would advise against ‎relying on a local taxi or waiting until you arrive. It is also not advisable to rent a car because ‎once you get to San Miguel, you will not need one as everything is either within walking distance or a 2-minute taxi ride.

ACCOMMODATIONS
San Miguel is a city full of boutique hotels and luxury homes available for rental. Rather than reserving
a block of rooms at a single hotel for the wedding, we are providing a list of hotels we have either
stayed in or for which we have received high recommendations for you to consider. These hotels are
listed by their distance from the center of town, the Jardin Allende. This is not an exhaustive list, as
there are many other very nice hotels in all price ranges.

fabulous rooftop bar and restaurant. Breakfast is included. $$$$

Located .08 miles from the Jardin Allende, also in the heart of the city, this is a very nice hotel.
It does not include breakfast or have an on sight restaurant but many wonderful places for
breakfast are located literally across the street! $$$

Located .09 miles from the Jardin Allende, in a perfect location literally behind the historic
Parroquia church, this 3-star hotel has a mix of rooms from suites with beautiful private outside
terraces to simple more affordable rooms. The outdoor courtyards are lovely and large, and a
very nice breakfast is included. It was historically a part of the Parroquia and each morning,
very early, you will hear the tolling of the church bells! $$ - $$$

Located .19 miles from Jardin Allende, this 36 room 5-star hotel is comprised of three separate
gorgeous historic properties located on the same street. There are two restaurants and a great
bar. A delightful breakfast is available but is not included in the room rate. The service here is

Located .25 miles from the Jardin Allende, this 5-star 32 room hotel with a strong modern vibe,
consistently gets rave reviews. They have breakfast, an on-site restaurant and a cool bar. The
location is in a beautiful area, but it is getting farther from the center of the historic town. The
service here is excellent. $$$$

The Rosewood is a luxurious 5-star hotel with 67 rooms, beautiful and expansive grounds, and multiple
restaurants and bars. It was built in 2011 and is the farthest from the historical city center at .43 miles,
but is a wonderful place with impeccable service. $$$$$

Renting homes in San Miguel is a popular option, especially if you are staying with a group.
